Addressing emerging risks in plant and animal production: Drivers, trade-offs, and management solutions

9 September 2026 | 12:00-13:20 CEST | Online
The webinar, organized by Community of Practice on drivers of emerging plant and animal pest and diseases including zoonotic spillover, brings together cross-sectoral experts to dissect how unsustainable agricultural designs act as evolutionary incubators and to map out the regenerative approaches needed to reverse this trend.
The webinar will:
Identify evolutionary drivers: Deconstruct how specific agricultural practices such as landscape homogenization, monocultures, unbalanced input use, livestock intensification, and chemical over-application act as operational incubators for novel pathogens and pests.
Bridge sectoral silos: Foster direct, cross-disciplinary dialogue between plant health experts, veterinary scientists, ecologists and others to address biological threats at their shared systemic roots.
Map regenerative solutions: Highlight actionable, ecologically grounded approaches and frameworks such as diversified waste management, integrated pest management, landscape restoration and agroecological approaches to minimize pest and disease emergence risks.
